Minimum of 3 year consistent training since obtaining nidan

** All san-dan examinations will take place at Aikido of San Leandro and will be administered by Pat Hendricks Sensei.

[SUWARI-WAZA] Various Attacks: Ikkyo - Gokkyo

[HANMI-HANDACHI] All previous basic techniques - ki-no-nagare and jiyuwaza

[TACHI-WAZA] 5 ki-no-nagare techniques from any attack

[HENKA-WAZA] from any basic technique

[KAESHI-WAZA] 5 counters from:

  • Ikkyo
  • Shi-ho-nage
  • Irimi-nage
  • Koshi-nage
  • Kote-gaeshi

[BUKI-WAZA]

  • Tachi-dori: 5 from tsuki, 5 from sho-men
  • Jo-dori: 5 techniques, alternate right/left attack and hanmi
  • Tanto-dori: variations, any attack
  • Kumi-tachi: all with variations (strike + throw)
  • Ken-tai-jo: 1-7 with one variation, strike or throw
  • Kumi-jo: all with variations (strike + throw)

[PROGRESSON] One person attack; show 3 defenses from various attacks

  1. Kihon
  2. ki-no-nagare
  3. ki-no-nagare variation

[RAN-DORI] 4 person multiple attack with weapons

  1. 2 or 3 attackers with weapons, 2 throws each
  2. keep jo or bokken; nage techniques, 2 each
  3. open-hand, no weapons
